bringing balance back into your body

How to use Nutrafem: Discussing Nutrafem with your Doctor

Nutrafem Guidelines for Success

1. It takes about 12 weeks for your body to rebalance itself from your menopausal symptoms when you are on Nutrafem. Most women experience changes within 10 days however it takes three months to get the full effect and further improvements may be seen beyond three months. The recommended dose is between 2 and 4 capsules per day for mild to moderate symptoms to 6 capsules per day for more severe symptoms. If you have been using HRT (hormone replacement therapy) compound bio-identical, cream, patch, a prescribed drug, or if your stress levels have been severe, you may require 5-6 capsules per day. Nutrafem has not been shown to cause harm when more than 6 capsules per day are taken for prolonged periods of time. This guideline of mild to severe symptoms will help you to figure out what works best for your body.

2. Based on the experience of users, after 12 weeks on Nutrafem you can reduce your dosage by half and still maintain the balance you have achieved over the past 3 months, however more Nutrafem may be needed to counter heavy caffeine and alcohol intake. A note from Dini ... "I started on 4 capsules a day then went to 6 per day for a few weeks (my symptoms were bordering on severely insane). After 12 weeks I was on four per day, but now that I've cut back on coffee etc., I am down to 2 per day and I'm still symptom free!"

When to increase or decrease your dose:

  • Increase your dose if you have not achieved satisfactory changes within 7 days. You may continue to increase to 6 capsules daily, divided into two doses.
  • Decrease your dose if you have been using Nutrafem regularly for 3 months or more and you are satisfied with the results.
  • Decrease your dose if you find that you are more restless than before using Nutrafem.
  • In perimenopause your dose should be discontinued temporarily if there are period related symptoms such as water retention, tender breasts, cramping or menstrual flow.

3. Besides Nutrafem, mature women can benefit from taking the Omega Oils 3-6-9. Marion recommends Hemp Seeds or Fish as the most effective, economical and clean source.

4. Many practitioners recommend vitamin B-complex to alleviate symptoms associated with stress. See your health care practitioner to decide if this is appropriate for you.

5. Digestive health is an important part of maintaining hormonal health. Consider the following points:

  1. Medicines that reduce stomach acid also reduce your body's ability to break down foods and absorb nutrients. If you use antacids take Nutrafem at a different time, so that it will be absorbed. Medicines that reduce stomach acid include: Over the counter Antacids, Prescription Antacids, and Calcium Supplements.
  2. Women who eat 5 servings of vegetables daily have been shown to have a lower risk of breast cancer. Cabbage and Broccoli also contain unique sulfides that make these the top 2 choices respectively for cancer prevention. . Cruciferous vegetables (including cabbage, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, kale, etc) contain indoles, substances known to strengthen digestive function and reduce the risk of certain types of cancer. Indoles ensure the excretion of active estrogens, and prevent them from recirculation.
  3. Fermented foods (for example live culture yoghurt, unpasteurized miso, home-made or unpasteurized pickles or sauerkraut) will improve regularity and assist with the clearance of active hormones.
  4. Commercially raised meats, fowl and fish contain veterinary hormonal residues. For this reason, these foods should be kept to a minimum and eaten only in small portions. Keeping saturated fat intake low also helps maintain blood vessel and heart health.

6. Keep a journal of your symptoms and improvement on Nutrafem. Often as we improve we forget how bad things were; keep track of those first 12 weeks.

7. Once you find the dose that works for you, consistency is important as Nutrafem has a cumulative effect.
